redemption
Not that you all care, I know you don't. Rachelle might because she called and informed me that tuna casserole is disgusting. But I made roast last night and it was delicious and I have redeemed myself as a domestic poser. I was super domestic yesterday. Woke up by 8, made cookies, made the roast, finished my church lesson, loved my husband, lalalalalalalalalala. And today I woke up and have accomplished not a thing. I love summer.

summertime
Summer has begun. Wonderfully. Lazily. I hope it stays this way. In my two days so far I have enjoyed a bike ride, the swimming pool, two naps, a movie, and a new book from the library. Cooking has been the only thorn in my side. We're down to the cupboard basics which you always buy in hopes you'll never have to use them. I haven't been grocery shopping because of finals, and now that it's summer I just don't want to be bothered with such menial tasks. So I made tuna casserole the other night because Jamey wasn't home and he doesn't like it and it's not my fav but I could stomach it. Unfortunately for him, he surprised me and came home right when I'd stuck it in the oven. I felt so guilty feeding it to him for supper!! He said he didn't mind. Good man. I am not so good to humor him though. I went to the Temple this morning and on my drive home he texted and asked if I'd like him to fix some lunch. That was easy. But when I came home he had made Ramen, and put a boiled egg in it. Tuna casserole was my childhood standby which he dutifully ate, Ramen and egg was apparently his, which was incredibly hard for me to stomach! I think I made him feel bad, but then we laughed. Again, good man. But I still don't want to go to the grocery store. If Ramen and egg isn't a good enough motivator I'm not sure I care to analyze the depths of my summer-induced slothness.

Finals Week!
My friend, Amber, nailed it on the head. After leaving 3 comments in one night on her blog she emailed me to ask if it was exam time again and if I was doing my best at procrastinating? Yep! Not that I mean to, I jsut despise memorizing useless facts. The interesting ones I don't mind so much, the ones I see no use for drive me crazy. Today I had to write a paper on "Success and Leadership in Pharmacy" It's a real winner. It is actually something I do care about, but hello? It's the end of the quarter, the sun is out, it is GORGEOUS outside and I want to be anywhere than with my notes and Microsoft Word. While I took a little study break to talk with my mom I decided to get the super glue back out to fix up my cracked thumbnail. I guess I was enjoying talking too much because I ended up gluing two of my fingers together. Genius. That was a boost of confidence for the rest of my exams! Jamey's still at the library studying and I just want to eat pie for dinner. But that would mean I have to go to the store to get some, not worth it. So I'll have a fudgesicle instead.

long time no news
I'm a boring girl these days. Never thought I'd be looking for more excuses to study, but it's the only way I get to spend any time with Jamey. He is so diligent. As I was laying in bed, alone, the other night (because he was still awake studying) I was so grateful to be married to someone I can admire/respect/want to be like. He is super diligent. He keeps pushing himself and pushing himself to learn/understand/try more. He studies I'd say, on average, 15 hours a day. Definitely atleast 12, sometimes 17! And me, I'd give myself an hour study break for lunch, not him. He just keeps pushing himself and eats his meals infront of his computer. 2 weeks from tomorrow he'll take the test and then he's home free!! YAY! So please everyone, keep him in your prayers as he's doing everything he knows how to succeed that he will have a clear mind and be able to think through all his questions and know the best answers on his 8 HOUR exam. It's gonna be a doozie. But I have complete confidence in him because he knows how to apply himself and how to set goals and accomplish them. I love him.

My wonderful family
It was absolutely fantastic spending 4 full days with my family. I drove to Palmyra, NY on Friday night by myself after class and we met up at the Palmyra Inn at about midnight. They drove from DC, again with a cruel GPS. We spent all of Saturday gallivanting around the town and seeing all there was to see. We spent a solid 2 hours in the Sacred Grove and it was my happiest time I think. I loved being there and sharing that part of my life with them. I wish I had the pictures of Grandma in the off-roading wheelchair but those are on Auntie Lynne's phone. Sunday we went to Church then started the drive home, with a fun detour to Niagara Falls! I can't even say how fun/funny it was to see them all on the Maid of the Mist! And then home sweet home to Ohio. Unfortunately, I had exams to study for so I went to school in the morning to study (skipped classes but studied) and we spent the afternoons together. It was the saddest thing to say goodbye Wednesday morning but I'm glad they spent what time they had with me. I love my family.

worst tease
My family stopped in for a very short stay last night. It was the happiest 20 minutes of my life (lately). Seriously, I was so excited for them to come. My mom, grandma, auntie, and sis-in-law were driving from Vegas/Utah all the way to DC and made us a pit stop. They originally planned to be here yesterday at 6 pm. I went grocery shopping so Jamey could cook a wonderful meal for them. Then after they'd been through a blizzard and wind storm it sadly got pushed to 10 pm. I called at 9:20 pm to see how close they were and they weren't even to Indainapolis yet! Over 4 hours to go! I was completely heartbroken but told myself I'd rather be me than them in the car for 18+ hours that day. They hit some more crazy weather and have a GPS with a sick sense of humor. I went to bed and they finally rolled in at almost 3 am. We talked excitedly for maybe 20 mins and then everyone needed to crash. I couldn't fall back asleep though. I was too happy to see them here in my house in Ohio!! It's the stuff dreams are made of. I set my alarm for an hour earlier than I needed, got dressed and ready for the day, then snuck down to the basement and crawled in bed with my mom to just be close to her for awhile. Jamey and I left for school before they were gone and I've been homesick the rest of the day. What a terrible tease that was! Luckily, I'll see them again this weekend for a real visit! I'm holding on to that. I'm horribly impatient though.

Cornhole??
I know. That's what I thought the first time I heard about it too. Huh? What? Turns out it is very popular around this part of the US. I don't know how far the fetish reaches since I never heard about it in all my time in western NY, but here it's HUGE. The first time I played was at an assisted living home. A group of classmates and I were assigned to go hang with the coolest Seniors for 2 quarters last year. We never had such a turnout as the day we brought in 2 cornhole sets! It was hilarious how into it they got. While not a super great pic, it's the only documentation I have of my initiation. I felt like a real Ohioian that day.
Since then, I've been to a couple Cornhole Tournaments. Sounds like it should be all fun and games but people actually take it pretty darn seriously. Poor Jamey. He's always my partner so he never really stands a chance. It's like playing horseshoes with beanbags. That's the only way I know to describe it. Our most recent adventure was a "friendly get-together". We made some pretty sweet team shirts and made it a couple rounds before being ousted from the bracket.
