so long summer

Shortest summer break of my life. 4 days. And I loved every one of them. My only regret is not making it to the pool. On the days that I was home and able to go, it was rainy and overcast and thunderstorms. Oh well, I've got all summer. First day of "vacation" we went with the Mangums to Cedar Point. They have a new ride this year, the Gatekeeper, and it was fantastic. Top Thrill Dragster is still my favorite though. The park was only open 10 am - 8 pm and I thought we were getting jipped. However, the crowds were small, the lines went fast, and we ended up leaving the park a few hours before closing because we'd rode all the rides and then some. Definitely got our fill. The rest of the weekend was spent with Netflix, cleaning, helping friends move, garage sale-ing, and eating out. I loved it. Tomorrow I begin 4th Year. I am so excited and a little scared out of my mind. This first month is my general hospital experience and I need all the luck and well wishes and prayers I can get.

little flannel blanket

I quilted my first baby blanket. I have crocheted many, but never attempted one with my sewing machine. Finally, I had a good enough incentive to break out of my crafty comfort zone...my brother's first baby! Sex is yet to be determined, but I just had to make one for when I went to visit in DC a  couple of weekends ago. I won't see them again until the babe is here and it needed a present from its favorite auntie before then. I tried going to some fabric stores but couldn't find any cute gender neutral flannel. I came home and got online and found the cutest fabric that I fell in love with. Then I spent 2 long days (I never would've thought that sewing straight lines would take all day long) busting out the blanket. I had to get it done before we left but really the biggest motivator was that I was so excited about it that I needed to see the finished product. And they loved it.

bye bye frog

When we got back from DC Jamey decided we needed to hold a mini-memorial service for our frog. The Mangums had been taking care of him while we were gone and had put him in this jello box for a coffin. Jamey made the video I posted last week and we set off some roman candles in the the street (I think the entire night was just so the boys had an excuse to shoot those). And then we buried him in our front lawn under his rock from his tank. I must say I am glad we didn't flush him. Since I was little and I learned people just flush their dead fish I've been so grossed out by it.

Master T

I spent the best weekend in Washington DC. My older brother graduated with his Masters of Accountancy and Jamey and I drove down for the weekend to celebrate. It was a fast 3 days but very well spent. We traipsed all around the city (National Mall, Library of Congress, Botanical Gardens, Air & Space Museum), ate so much food (I gained 4 pounds our first day, then decided to stay away from the scale), saw the new Star Trek, and watched quite a bit of Arrested Development. Perfect weekend getaway.

Flagella - our frogboy

Flagella passed away Saturday May 18th. We were in DC and he was staying with the Mangums. We were sorry not to be here for him but know he was well taken care of. We'll miss you little guy!

lately

Tonight after dinner Jamey said, "You know there's this guy with the Professional Schools...he teaches cooking classes. We should go take some." How's that for a subtle hint at my cooking?

I am ALL DONE with my core pharmacy classes. ALL DONE. It's surreal. No more didactic lectures. No more late night cramming and early morning study sessions. My studying typically consisted of going through all the notes and making my own notes/highlights. Then the night before I'd pace for hours trying to log all the information in my mind and overhauling my short term memory. I'd usually give out around midnight or 1 am and then set my alarm for 3:30 and study til 6 and then sleep til 7 then get up and go to school to take my test. And it's OVER now! No more! I'm so happy. I really cannot believe that phase of my life is good and done. In a year from now I will be an honest-to-goodness Pharmacist with an actual paycheck. That will be a great day.

We've been going for a lot of bike rides. I'll need to see if I can still do no-hands.

I stopped by the pool today, and it's full to the brim with water. It'll be open in no time.

And....that's all I've got.

warm bodies

ohmygosh. Jamey and I have had such a fun day - the best part being this movie. I am not a zombie girl. I don't watch zombie shows or play zombie video games. I don't like them. I know they are the most fake thing in the world but still they creep me out and are just gross. But I loved this movie. Granted, I had to close my eyes a couple times, but it was hilarious. And then I found these posters online and laughed all over again. So clever. One of Jamey's sisters (I suck that I can't remember which) shared this song with us months ago and we love it and sing it to each other and pretty sure that's what this movie is based on.

PS - still no way I'm ever watching The Walking Dead.
